Repairing your floor

The first step is to secure any loose floorboards using lost head nails, uplift any split or dangerous floorboards and replace with either new or reclaimed wood.

Gap filling Up to 5mm

Gaps will be filled using a mix of resin mixed with saw dust.

Gap filling for 5-12mm

We insert glue and reclaimed wood slivers between the floorboards, which are then sanded level in the next stage.

Wood floor sanding - stripping - buffing

We feel that three stages of sanding are required to produce a quality-restored floor. The first being a course grade sanding belt, then a medium grade belt and finally a fine grade to finish.

Staining, choose a colour

As this is an important decision, a number of test patches of stains can be applied to your floor for you to view and make a choice.

Finishing with a lacquer, oil or hard wax

Whether a stain has been chosen or not, the floor is ready to have either a lacquer or oiled finish. If a lacquer is requested three coats will be applied or two coats if an oiled finish is chosen.

Concrete hearth removal and restitch

Chase out fire hearth, uplift surrounding flooring, and replace void with reclaimed floorboards removing every trace of the original hearth.

Reclaimed wood flooring

We also supply and install all types of reclaimed wood flooring like the most popular Victorian or Georgian pine floorboards and as all kinds of parquet blocks. You should be aware that reclaimed floorboards have ''character'' which makes it so attractive and may include nail holes, mature knots, and stains etc.
